Module 6 Reflection

This module has helped me think about self-directed learners and the role of differentiation in the following ways...

It is important for students to be self-directed as it is a 21st century skill they can use as they progress in their education. Differentiation is also important as some students do not learn the same as others. In this day and age, there are many students who require special needs and we have the capability to help them. Many students only require small modifications or accommodations, while others require more. It is our job to help those students in any way possible.

Module 4 Reflection

How can technology be used most effectively to support and assess student learning?

I believe technology most effectively supports student learning because students are more excited about learning when they are using technology. When a student gets to do an activity on the computer, rather than on a piece of paper at their desk, I think they put more effort into the activity. Also, there are a vast amount of resources that can be reached through using technology that would not be available by using the classroom alone. In referring to assessing student learning there are also a large number of applications that can be used through technology. I believe students will be more successful with technology.

Module 3 Reflection

This module has helped me think about the impact of the Internet on my students' learning in the following ways...

Using the Internet is very important in the classroom for communication and collaboration. There are many useful communication tools such as e-mail, online chats, instant messaging, surveying or polling, and voice over Internet protocol. All of these can help teachers communicate with parents or students and allow students to communicate with each other which also promotes student collaboration. Other collaborating tools are blogs, wikis, and other online collaborative web sites.

Module 2 Reflection

This module has helped me think about using standards, CFQs, or formative assessment in the following ways...

I think that it is important to remember that when using standards, CFQs, or formative assessment, it is important to think each one through completely. When deciding on a unit plan you must decide what you would like the students to get out of it, or what you want to learn from it. Using standards allows you to follow guidelines when forming the unit plan. Using CFQs is important to help the students learn to start thinking in depth about the subject of the unit plan, and will hopefully lead to very though provoking student discussions. And lastly, formative assessment will allow you to see if the students have gathered all that you want them to from the unit plan.

Module 1 Reflection

This module has made me think about my role as an instructional designer in the following ways...

This module has made me think of my role as an instructional designer by making sure that I try to provide my students with as much knowledge of the subject as possible. Also, as an instructional designer, it is very important to consider the students for which you are designing a lesson. Another important thing to remember when designing is to find activities that the students will find fun and interesting. I think that by combining these things I believe that my role as an instructional designer will be very beneficial to the students.
